About Us
Each of the 3-D images in the book "The Earth in 3-D" was created by combining two aerial photographs in a way so that one eye could see one photograph and the other eye could only see the other photograph.
How to create a 3-D picture
Find two photographs of the same object that were taken from two
slightly different locations. I took the following pictures of the Hoover Dam
spillway on a visit in June, 2001.

| I took this picture of the spillway, then stepped a little to my right... | ...and took this picture. Notice that the view has shifted slightly. |
Scan the photographs into a computer. Use a graphics program to make the left picture red and the right picture blue.

| This picture should now be much easier to see through the red lens of a pair of 3-D glasses. | This picture should be easier to see through the blue lens of a pair of 3-D glasses. |
Combine the two images and allign them as perfectly as possible and the result should look three dimensional.

As always, make sure that the red lens is over your left eye.
